Melting Ice Cream Experiment
A trip to Grandmas this week so lots of cooking as well as an ice cream cooking experiment....how do you stop ice cream from melting in the oven?
We topped pre-made fairy cakes with ice cream. One spoon on the cake and one spoon in the mouth seemed to be the pattern.
The cakes were returned to the freezer and we made the magic ingredient - meringue.
Eggs were cracked and whites and yolks separated. A tricky skill for the not yet four year old.
The egg whites were whipped. This was watched with great excitement as the runny whites turned to snowy peaks. Sugar was added to the mixture to make meringue.
We covered the ice cream with the meringue mix and popped them in the oven.
